Five Recipes for Organic Hemp Oil Treats that Dogs Are Guaranteed to Love

There are many benefits to incorporating organic hemp oil into your diet, but the beneficial oil isn’t just for pet owners; your pet can also devour tasty treats that have organic hemp oil incorporated into them. The oil provides the same benefits to your dog’s health as it does to yours: it can alleviate pain and anxiety, soothe their digestive system, and most importantly give a boost to their overall wellbeing.

Your dog might not necessarily agree to eating organic hemp oil by itself, but you can add the oil to many homemade treats. These treats are not only tasty, but also safe and healthy for your pets. They’re easy to make, too! The following five great recipes include organic hemp oil and other ingredients that your dog is sure to love.

Honey and Peanut Butter Treats

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup chicken broth

  • 1 cup oats

  • 1 cup flour, all-purpose

  • 1 cup flour, whole wheat

  • ½ cup peanut butter

  • ¼ cup honey

  • ⅔ tablespoon coconut oil

  • 1 teaspoon organic hemp oil

Directions:

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the chicken broth, organic hemp oil, coconut oil, honey, and peanut butter.

  • In a separate bowl, sift the all-purpose and whole wheat flours together. Add in the rolled oats; mix.

  • Mix the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients until they are completely combined into a dough.

  • With flour, completely dust your counter or other area of work. Put the dough onto this dusted surface.

  • Roll out the dough until its thickness is about ¼ inch.

  • Using a cookie cutter, cut out the treats in whatever shape you want.

  • Place the cut treats onto a baking sheet that is lined with parchment paper.

  • Bake for 14-16 minutes.

  • Allow treats to cool before serving.

Frozen Pumpkin Yogurt Treats

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup pumpkin puree

  • ½ cup Greek yogurt, plain

  • 1 teaspoon organic hemp oil

Directions:

  • In a large bowl, mix the organic hemp oil, Greek yogurt, and pumpkin puree together until thoroughly combined.

  • Slowly pour the mixture into an ice cube tray, or into silicone molds.

  • Freeze for a minimum of two hours.

  • Keep in the freezer until you’re ready to serve to your pet.

Frozen Peanut Butter Yogurt Treats

Ingredients:

  • 32 oz vanilla flavored yogurt

  • 1 cup peanut butter

  • 1 teaspoon organic hemp oil

Directions:

  • Put the peanut butter in a bowl that’s microwave safe. Cover the bowl and microwave for 30 seconds on high. Take the bowl, out stir, and repeat until the peanut butter is completely melted and you can pour it easily.

  • Combine the organic hemp oil and the yogurt with the peanut butter in the bowl. Combine completely so the hemp oil is evenly distributed.

  • Pour this mixture into an ice cube tray or silicone molds. Before you do this, apply a non-stick spray to the ice cube tray.

  • Put the tray or mold in the freezer for at least two hours.

  • Once the treats are fully frozen, serve.

Sweet Potato Treats

Ingredients:

  • 2 medium-sized sweet potatoes, cooked and cooled

  • 1 egg

  • ½ cup bacon grease, or coconut oil

  • ½ cup coconut flour

  • 1-2 tablespoons water

  • 1 teaspoon organic hemp oil

Directions:

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

  • Take all of the ingredients and mix together until thoroughly combined. You should reach a Play-Doh consistency. If necessary, you can add more coconut flour.

  • Take your dough and form it into balls that are 1 inch in diameter. With the palm of your hand, flatten each ball.

  • Place each flattened ball onto a baking sheet that has been lined with parchment paper.

  • Bake for 20 minutes.

  • Let cool before serving.

No-Bake Coconut Treats

Ingredients:

  • 2 ½ cups rolled oats

  • ½ cup shredded coconut

  • ⅓ cup coconut oil

  • 3 tablespoons peanut butter

  • 1 teaspoon organic hemp oil

Directions:

  • Mix together the organic hemp oil, coconut oil, rolled oats, and peanut butter until they are thoroughly combined. It’s recommended that you use a food processor to do this, but you can also do it by hand.

  • With a spoon, scoop out bite-sized pieces of the mixture. Roll each piece into a small ball.

  • On the side, have a bowl of shredded coconut that you place each ball into. Roll it around and toss until the ball is coated in coconut.

  • Place the balls onto a baking sheet that’s been lined with parchment paper or onto a flat tray.

  • Refrigerate for at least a half an hour before serving.

Depending on your dog’s medical conditions, the severity of those conditions, and your dog’s size, you can increase or decrease the amount of organic hemp oil you put into each recipe. It’s recommended that you “start low and go slow”; begin with a small dosage, then slowly increase this dosage if your dog responds well.

Your dog is bound to fall in love with these treats. Ingredients like peanut butter, pumpkin, and yogurt are completely safe for dogs to consume, and the hemp oil that’s included will give a great boost to your dog’s health and happiness.
